Ontario NDP marks over 1,000 days of Doug Ford being under RCMP criminal investigation

QUEEN’S PARK — Marit Stiles, Leader of the Official Opposition Ontario NDP, is marking over a thousand days of Doug Ford being under RCMP criminal investigation for the Greenbelt scandal.

“This is Doug Ford’s legacy,” said Stiles. “Not making groceries cheaper, not fixing our health care; but scandals, corruption, and criminal investigations.

“The worst part is he’s learned nothing. Doug Ford’s fear of transparency is so deep that he changed Freedom of Information laws — the same ones that helped unearth the Greenbelt scandal — to cover up his phone records, and whatever else he's hiding.”

The investigation was launched in October 2023 following scathing reports from independent officers of the legislature, investigations from the media, and revelations from the Ontario NDP.

“I have full confidence in the RCMP to find the truth, but zero confidence in Doug Ford to tell the truth. Ontarians need to know if they can trust him. If there’s nothing to hide, why does Doug Ford keep jumping through hoops to hide things?”
